Intellectual Disability Services

The National Intellectual Disability (ID) Service holds a number of contracts funded directly by the Ministry of Disabled People. These contracts are part of a framework of interconnected services for people with an ID (adults and youth). One of the contracts we hold is for services for clients that are placed under the Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care & Rehabilitation) Act 2003 (IDCC&R). These services include:

• Regional ID Secure Service (RIDSS)
• National Youth ID Secure Service (NIDSS)
• Community Consultation Liaison ID Team (CLT)

We also hold the National Individual Service Unit (ISU) contract for people with ID and /or Mental Health.

In addition to the above regional and national contracts, \Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) also holds the contract for the Community Mental Health ID Team, now known as the Regional Intellectual Disability Consultation and Assessment Service (RIDCAS), this team covers the Central region of the North Island.

Ministry of Disabled People forensic contracts (RIDSS, NIDSS, CLT) can only be accessed by referral from the courts or Regional Prison Services through the Forensic Coordination Service (ID).

Our Community Mental Health ID Team (RIDCAS) is usually accessed through Local Adult Community Mental Health teams.
